Yesterday, Tom and I did something we don't do nearly often enough.
We became tourists in our own hometown.
Along with sweet friends, we spent early afternoon at Jordan Winery for one of their experiential tastings, a leisurely journey through the estate featuring beautifully paired wines and seasonal bites. It wasn't simply a wine tasting. It was an experience. We wandered the winery, explored the beautifully manicured gardens, shared wonderful conversation, and were reminded just how fortunate we are to call Healdsburg and Sonoma County home.
As someone who has lived in Healdsburg for more than two decades and helped clients buy and sell homes throughout Sonoma County, it's surprisingly easy to become accustomed to the beauty that surrounds us. We drive past vineyards on our way to appointments, pass wineries while running errands, and often save these experiences for visiting family and friends instead of enjoying them ourselves.
Yesterday reminded me that we shouldn't.
One of the greatest gifts of living in Sonoma County is that there is always something new to discover. Beyond exceptional wines, many of our local wineries now offer vineyard hikes, culinary experiences, olive oil tastings, garden tours, concerts beneath the stars, seasonal dinners, and intimate food and wine pairings that showcase the very best of Wine Country living.
Whether you're a lifelong resident, new to Healdsburg, or dreaming about making Wine Country your home, these experiences remind us that the lifestyle here extends far beyond the front door.
It made me realize that sometimes the best getaway doesn't require boarding a plane.
Sometimes it's simply making a reservation minutes from home.
As a Healdsburg Realtor, one of the questions I'm asked most often is, "What's it really like to live here?"
Of course, I can tell people about beautiful homes, vineyard estates, charming downtown neighborhoods, and breathtaking views. But what truly makes Healdsburg real estate and Sonoma County living so special isn't just the homes, it's the lifestyle that comes with them.
It's deciding on a sunny afternoon to meet friends at a local winery, stroll through vineyards, enjoy a leisurely lunch, discover a new favorite vintage, and still be home before dinner.
That's not a vacation.
That's simply life in Healdsburg.
This summer, I encourage you to become a tourist in your own hometown. Visit the winery you've always driven past but never explored. Reserve that food and wine pairing you've been meaning to try. Wander through a sculpture garden, enjoy an outdoor concert, or invite friends to discover a new corner of Sonoma County together.
Sometimes we spend so much time looking for our next vacation that we forget to appreciate the extraordinary place we already call home.
One afternoon reminded me that some of life's greatest luxuries aren't measured in miles traveled, but in moments shared with friends in the place we love most.
Kellie's Summer Challenge ☀️
